Turning a spreadsheet catalog into thousands of Shopify products
A footwear brand managing hundreds of styles × colorways × sizes in spreadsheets needed its catalog in Shopify without an army of interns. I built an embedded app that generates and maintains the whole parent/child product structure automatically.

The challenge
The catalog's parent/child model (style → colorway → size) doesn't map to Shopify's flat product/variant structure. Bulk creation, price updates and SKU changes had to be repeatable, safe and verifiable, because a one-off CSV import wouldn't survive the next season's catalog.
What I built
- ✓Embedded Shopify app (Node/Express + React + Polaris) with theme app extension
- ✓A pipeline of generators: parent creator, child creator, parent/child connector, price updater, SKU updater and a product checker for verification
- ✓AI product imagery generation integrated into the import flow
- ✓GDPR webhooks and Docker deployment
Result
- →Seasonal catalog updates went from weeks of manual work to a supervised pipeline run
