The challenge
A theme can't deliver a logged-in member experience with courses, community areas, affiliate dashboards and personalized onboarding. But the business still needed Shopify's checkout, subscriptions and order infrastructure.
What I built
- ✓Next.js member portal on the Shopify Storefront + Admin APIs
- ✓Custom customer authentication with token management, password recovery and address book CRUD
- ✓Affiliate/partner program with referral lookups and tag-based tiers
- ✓Customer metafield writes for personalization; Klaviyo events for lifecycle marketing
- ✓Companion headless storefront app sharing the same cart API layer
Result
- →A member experience impossible in a theme, with Shopify still running commerce
- →Affiliates and community features drive acquisition without third-party SaaS fees
