Business Central ↔ Shopify: B2B contract pricing on autopilot
A B2B store where every customer has negotiated contract prices living in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. I built the integration that keeps thousands of customer-specific prices correct in Shopify, automatically. And it runs entirely without Shopify Plus, on a plan that officially doesn't support per-customer pricing at all.
The challenge
The ERP was the source of truth for per-customer and per-group contract pricing, but Shopify had no way to show them. Worse: native per-customer pricing is a Shopify Plus B2B feature, and this store ran on a standard plan where that simply doesn't exist. Manual exports were slow and error-prone, and pricing mistakes in B2B mean margin leaks or angry customers. There was no off-the-shelf connector for this pricing model, and an upgrade to Plus was off the table.
What I built
- ✓A custom pricing architecture that recreates per-customer contract pricing on a non-Plus plan, something Shopify doesn't offer natively outside Plus B2B
- ✓OAuth-secured middleware connecting to the Business Central API
- ✓Contract prices per customer and customer group pulled from BC and pushed into Shopify pricing rules
- ✓Scheduled syncs via cron with retries, plus endpoints for blocked customers and discount groups
- ✓A whole toolbox of reconciliation scripts: price audits, customer mismatch checks, bulk rule management
- ✓Admin frontend for the merchant to monitor and trigger syncs
Result
- →Thousands of contract prices stay in sync without human intervention
- →Pricing disputes traceable in minutes via audit tooling instead of spreadsheet archaeology
- →The merchant's team stopped doing weekly manual price exports entirely
